Privacy Policy
In development · Nothing collected for training today
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy describes how ScrollCha (“ScrollCha,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with our marketing website at scrollcha.com and the ScrollCha language-learning product (the “Service”), which is still in development and not a public launch.
We do not invent a separate corporate entity name in this policy. For privacy questions, contact: privacy@scrollcha.com.
2. Iron-clad rule today: we collect nothing for accounts, analytics, or training
As of the effective date, while ScrollCha is in development and this marketing site is live:
- We do not collect personal data from the website or the MVP app for accounts, mailing lists, advertising, analytics dashboards, or model/training pipelines.
- We do not create user accounts on this site.
- We do not run first-party analytics, advertising pixels, or silent “collect now, use later” logging for learning/training.
- We do not upload your screen content, feed text, or vocabulary history to ScrollCha servers for training today — because that pipeline is not live.
The only on-device preference this website stores is described in
Section 6 (Cookies & local storage): your light/dark theme choice
in localStorage, which stays in your browser and is not sent to us.
Server or hosting providers may generate standard technical logs (for example IP address, user-agent, and request timestamps) when you load pages. Those logs are controlled by the host’s systems, not by a ScrollCha product analytics product we operate today. We do not use them to build profiles or train an evolutionary engine.
3. What the Service is designed to do (product context)
ScrollCha is an early MVP immersion experience: diglot (“two-language”) weave overlays on content you already scroll (for example Instagram, news, or a browser), plus personalization such as language pair, CEFR level, and weave density. Marketing copy on our site emphasizes on-device by default immersion. That product direction does not authorize silent cloud collection while features are still being built.
4. Future intent: evolutionary engine — only with clear opt-in consent
This section describes a future possibility, not current practice. We are not gathering data now “for later” training.
ScrollCha may later ask you for clear, affirmative consent before collecting any data used to train or improve an evolutionary engine — our adaptive learning / personalization system that helps weave density and difficulty grow with you over time.
- Future feature only. No evolutionary-engine training data is collected today.
- Opt-in required. We will not use your information for that purpose without your clear consent.
- Refuse or withdraw. You may decline consent and later withdraw it. Refusing will not be used to punish access to core features beyond what we disclose at the time of the ask (for example, some adaptive cloud features may require consent to work).
- Disclosed at consent time. Before you opt in, we will explain what categories of data are involved, why we need them, and how they will be used to improve the evolutionary engine.
- No silent collection. We will not quietly stockpile personal data under a vague “service improvement” label without that consent flow.
If and when consent-based collection begins, we will update this Privacy Policy and present in-product notices as required.
5. How we use information (when any exists)
Today, for this website:
- Theme preference in
localStorageis used only on your device to remember light or dark mode. - We do not sell personal information.
- We do not use personal information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
If you later create an account, contact us by email, or opt in to evolutionary-engine improvement, we will use the information you provide only for the purposes stated at collection time — for example responding to your request, providing the Service, security, and (only if you consent) improving adaptive personalization.
6. Legal bases (where applicable)
Depending on your location (for example under the GDPR/UK GDPR), we may rely on:
- Consent — for optional future evolutionary-engine / improvement uses, and for any non-essential cookies or similar technologies if we introduce them.
- Legitimate interests — for operating and securing a static marketing site, in a manner that does not override your rights.
- Contract — if you enter a user agreement for a launched Service.
- Legal obligation — when we must retain or disclose information to comply with law.
Where consent is the basis, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting prior lawful processing.
7. Cookies, local storage, and similar technologies
This website does not set advertising or analytics cookies.
We use browser localStorage with the key scrollcha-theme to store your theme preference
(light or dark). That value:
- is stored only on your device;
- is not transmitted to ScrollCha as part of a data-collection product;
- can be cleared by clearing site data in your browser settings.
If we later introduce optional cookies or similar technologies, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for consent.
8. Third parties and service providers
Today, loading this site may involve:
- Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com) — the site requests web fonts so text displays correctly. Google may receive technical request data (such as IP address) according to Google’s policies. See Google Privacy Policy.
- Website hosting / CDN — whoever hosts scrollcha.com (for example a static host or CDN) may process connection metadata needed to deliver pages.
- App stores / operating systems — when the Android (or later iOS) app is distributed, Apple, Google, or device OS privacy settings and store policies may apply independently of ScrollCha.
We do not currently share personal data with advertising networks or data brokers. Third-party apps you immerse into (Instagram, news sites, browsers, etc.) have their own privacy policies; ScrollCha does not control those services.
9. International transfers
ScrollCha may be operated from, and infrastructure may be located in, jurisdictions other than your own (including where font CDNs or hosts process requests). If we later transfer personal data internationally, we will use appropriate safeguards required by applicable law (such as standard contractual clauses where relevant) and describe them in an updated policy.
10. Retention
Theme preference in localStorage remains until you clear it. Because we do not operate a ScrollCha personal-data database for users today, there is no ScrollCha-side retention schedule for account or training datasets. If we later store personal data with your consent or for a launched Service, we will retain it only as long as needed for the stated purposes, then delete or anonymize it unless law requires longer retention.
11. Security
We take reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to a static marketing site and an early MVP (for example HTTPS where the host provides it, least-privilege access to any future systems). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Please use strong device protections and contact us if you suspect a privacy incident involving ScrollCha.
12. Children’s privacy
ScrollCha is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where that is the applicable digital-consent age), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact privacy@scrollcha.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
13. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing; to data portability; to withdraw consent; and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Because we are not collecting personal data into ScrollCha systems today (beyond what is described above), many access/deletion requests may simply confirm that we hold no personal account or training profile for you. Email privacy@scrollcha.com to exercise rights or ask questions. We may need to verify your request. You will not be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights.
14. Do Not Sell / share (US state notices)
We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are commonly defined under US state privacy laws. If that changes, we will update this policy and provide required opt-outs.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the product launches or legal requirements change. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes (especially new collection or evolutionary-engine uses), provide additional notice — for example a site banner or in-app consent — before those practices begin.
